Dog Boarding & Dog Care in Orchards, WA
A Quiet Country Escape for Orchards, WA Dogs
If you live in the Orchards area, you know that finding a spot for your dog to stay often means choosing between a cramped indoor facility or a high-traffic "pet hotel" near the highway. At Shady Hill Canine Camp, we offer something a little different: a genuine country retreat where the air is fresh and the pace is slow.
Just a short drive north of the Vancouver/Orchards area, our camp is tucked away on a peaceful property where we—the owners—actually live. This isn't just a business for us; it’s our home, and we treat every guest like they’re part of the pack.
Why Orchards Families Make the Drive to Shady Hill
Most of our clients from the Orchards and Battle Ground area choose us because they want their dogs to have more than just a "holding pen."
We are also uniquely equipped for dogs with specific needs. As breeders of champion Great Pyrenees, we understand large breeds, senior care, and complex medication schedules. Whether it's a simple pill or a more involved routine, we don’t charge extra for basic medication administration—we just want your dog to stay healthy.
Planning Your Dog’s Vacation
We know that life in the Orchards area can get busy, so we try to make the process as straightforward as possible:
We take the "camp" part of our name seriously, which means we keep things quiet and focused on the dogs. To keep our guests from getting overstimulated by constant foot traffic, we host tours and visits by appointment only.
If you’re looking for a boarding experience that feels like a trip to the farm rather than a stay in a warehouse, give us a call. We’d love to show you why so many families from Orchards make the drive up to Shady Hill.
Contact Kathy at 360-247-5000 or Gita at 360-247-5303 to book your stay.

Why Orchards Families Make the Drive to Shady Hill
Most of our clients from the Orchards and Battle Ground area choose us because they want their dogs to have more than just a "holding pen."
- No Concrete Floors: We moved away from the "concrete box" model years ago. Our rooms are lined with thick, cushioned rubber matting. It’s cleaner, easier on senior joints, and keeps your dog’s paws much more comfortable during their stay.
- The "Indoor-Outdoor" Freedom: Every dog at Shady Hill has their own private room with a connected outdoor run. They aren't waiting for a scheduled walk to get a breath of fresh air—they can step outside whenever they please.
- Real Grass and Room to Run: When it’s playtime, we head out to our large, secure grass pastures. Whether your dog loves making new friends in a supervised playgroup or prefers solo time sniffing the treeline with a staff member, they get real outdoor exercise on real ground.

- Cash/Check Discounts: We offer a lower daily rate for those paying with cash or check ($45/night).
- Check-in/Out: We keep consistent hours (9 am – 3 pm for drop-offs) to maintain a calm routine for the dogs on-site.
- Safe Haven: If your dog is sensitive to the noise of city life—especially during the 4th of July or New Year's—our rural location is a perfect, quiet sanctuary.
